I've always been in awe of our senses. This world didn't have to be so beautiful, smell so sweet, and bring us joy. These are all gifts.
Not too long ago a wave of COVID swept the earth and many lost their sense of taste, for months. To have something and lose it, without knowing if it will return, I wonder if those who lost it and flavors came back eat slower, savoring each bite, or have they forgotten the gift of taste.
This painting reminds me of the fleeting of life, the transparency of it all, and to stop and hold tight the gifts I've been given. Handcrafted by local Michigan artisan, Sanctified Home.
